Marching Along

As we look ahead to the coming months, this is an ideal time to begin planning for the summer — and beyond. While plans may shift and evolve, we are here to help you thoughtfully navigate the educational process every step of the way.

We are currently finishing our work with our present group of families and preparing for the next season. We will begin accepting new families at the end of April. In anticipation, we are reviewing current educational trends and identifying ways to further strengthen our practice and enhance your experience with us.

Looking Ahead: Summer Planning

Summer offers powerful opportunities for growth, confidence-building, and discovery. Here are key areas to consider:

  • Finding camps and creative experiences
  • Building confidence through meaningful summer activities
  • Strengthening academic skills
  • Enhancing athletic development
  • Encouraging fun and exploration
  • Fostering independence and social growth
  • Opening opportunities for learning through travel
  • Limiting technology use and promoting engagement in other activities

A well-planned summer can set the tone for a strong school year ahead.

Learning for the Summer — and Beyond

This is also the time to reflect and prepare academically:

  • Review what is currently being taught and learned
  • Gather reading lists and identify meaningful summer work
  • Speak with current teachers about next year’s placement
  • Reflect on what worked this year — and what didn’t
  • Identify areas that need improvement before year’s end
  • Prioritize key focus areas
  • Set realistic, attainable goals

Intentional reflection now can prevent unnecessary stress later.

Tangible Steps to Take Now

Planning creates clarity. Consider putting the following in motion:

Schedule Appointments

  • Physicals and dental appointments
  • Psychological evaluations
  • Vision checks and therapies
  • Reassess providers — are they still the right fit?
  • Do this for yourself as well as your children

Create a Family Calendar

Even knowing plans will change, begin plugging in:

  • Camps
  • Travel
  • Family visits
  • Unstructured downtime

Seeing your plans on paper fosters control, creativity, and confidence. It also helps identify what may be missing.

Considering Preschool, Private School, or College Applications?

If you are thinking about applying out — whether for preschool or college — now is the time to ask important questions:

  • Do we need additional support?
  • Is another psychological evaluation required?
  • Will testing be necessary?
  • Who should we hire — and why?
  • Have we interviewed each potential consultant?
  • Do we understand the timeline and requirements?
  • Have we clarified financial commitments?
  • Have we revisited our child’s learning style and needs?

Meeting early with the appropriate consultant helps avoid stress and unnecessary changes.

The Power of Family Meetings

We continue to emphasize the importance of family meetings. Creating space for each family member to be heard — even if desires are not fully attainable — strengthens communication and self-worth.

Listening.
Open dialogue.
Positivity.

These keep a family grounded and connected.
