The Important Role of an Education Consultant
Education is the foundation of our children’s future. We know it builds thinking skills, confidence, independence, resilience and of course, learning. We also believe that all children have a right to a good education and yet, there are years in a child’s life when we question if our child learned enough and or even had a good teacher. But beyond academics, each year is a building block where children learn more about themselves and how to navigate the world and its challenges. We remain positive that a strong educational foundation opens doors for more opportunities, more experiences and helps children grow in ways we cannot measure.
Every child is different. As parents we must always remember that each child has a unique learning style and different set of strengths and areas of development. Schools make every effort to adjust their curriculums for the individual child but it has become harder for schools to accomplish this goal. Be sure you have communicated clearly with your teacher the needs of your child, especially at the beginning of the school year and at the end of the year as well. Finding the right teacher who will enhance a child’s strengths, and work on areas of development, is critical. Build trust between you and the teacher for learning and enjoyment to be achieved. In a classroom of 22 different learning styles, it is often hard to accomplish each child’s specific plan without a strong working relationship.
Our role as educational consultants has grown significantly in the last 24 years. We have become the trusted advisor and partner to families in school placement, educational strategy, and guidance on how to handle the sometimes complicated interaction of the teacher and the student.
Ways we help-
We understand each child’s academic, social and emotional profile.
We meet with children to determine learning style.
We read reports and communicate with teachers or specialists to figure out next steps.
We guide parents through the admissions process and advocate for their children.
We address concerns, gaps, and recommend support as needed.
We make long term recommendations, if needed, or discuss an immediate crisis plan.
The education system of today often needs us to work with parents with specialized concerns and questions.
We are a team of professionals who do not shy away from the questions and challenges of helping families.
Schools often refer to us to help because we work diligently to solve the questions and help both sides work together as a team.
Advantages of using a consultant:
We provide expert guidance that ensures informed decisions are made. It may not always work out the way you thought or desired. There are missteps and obstacles that arise in each family, but open communication and transparency helps the family get the positive result that was desired.
