Oh, What a Year! Summer Is Almost Here!

You’ve almost made it! Carpools, homework, extracurriculars, early mornings, and endless to-do lists. Now it’s time to shift into summer mode: planning trips and activities, keeping everyone happy, and encouraging your kids to read, review, and relax (with you at the helm, of course!).

We’ve had a wonderful year helping more than 100 families from preschool through high school navigate the school process. From selecting the right preschool to finding the best-fit high school, including specialized programs and boarding schools, it’s been an honor to guide you every step of the way. We’ve listened to your concerns, connected you with specialists, reviewed applications, and answered your many questions about your children’s educational paths—all while offering steady encouragement along the way.

From California to Miami and everywhere in between, we’ve truly enjoyed working with you. You are the heart of our practice. We continue to be guided by passion, perspective, proactive planning, and positivity. All of which create strong, lasting partnerships.

Trends to Think About in Education

Schools today are doing more than delivering academic content. They are helping students become adaptable, confident, and capable leaders. While academics remain essential, educators increasingly recognize that curiosity, resilience, communication, creativity, and emotional development are just as important for long-term success.

AI and technology absolutely have a place in learning, but the relationship between teachers and students remains more important than ever. This is why parents play such a vital role as proactive planners. You help your children reach their full potential with balance, intention, and support.

So… It’s Summer! What Does That Mean?

Socialization and Play
Summer is a time to recharge through friends, family, team activities, and unstructured play. A little boredom is actually a good thing. It encourages creativity, independence, and problem-solving. Downtime and outdoor play often lead to greater confidence and happiness.

Reading
Reading should remain part of everyday life at every age. Libraries, curated book lists, and online resources offer excellent options. Consider starting a family or neighborhood book club or creating a fun reading challenge. Encourage exploration across genres: graphic novels, nonfiction, sports, fantasy, and biographies. These can help children discover their interests. Reading truly never goes out of style.

Math
Math is a foundational skill, and without practice, abilities can slip over the summer. Light review of concepts like math facts, fractions, or long division can go a long way. Online games, workbooks, or tutoring can help maintain confidence and momentum.

Writing
Many children don’t write enough during the school year, making summer a perfect time to build this skill. Journals, letters, stories, or even emails are great places to start. While we may smile at misspelled camp notes, writing remains an essential lifelong skill. Fun activities like family spelling games or collaborative storytelling can make it engaging and natural.
